This is genius that should have been geniused long ago. Shimano now makes 11spd cassettes that fit on 10spd hubs. Shockingly one doesn’t have to buy new wheels? Your old hoops are once again more useful !! Especially if one finds some lightly used carbon aero sets...but a catch!

These cassettes are made for MTB hubs and are 11-34 tooth range only. Whatever. It fits a road hub fine and I’ve got a 52 /36 crank. So it’ll climb very well and not be too gear spacy .

Im regrouping an older frame. I’m tired of mishmash parts. So on goes the newest MicroS hift group, thanks to a bunch of Amazon gift cards. Shimano compatible, and supposedly their game is significantly raised.

But will the shifter arm thingy access the extra sprocket?

Shimano 5700, 5800, 6800 rear mechs can handle 34 teeth. Shimano is quite conservative with what the cthe rear mechs handle, and on most frames they can take it with some extra B screw adjustment. The group I'm installing can also handle it as well.

Shimano has been doing this for a while...so is Sunrace. And Garbaruk too . And SRAM . And in a much much wider range than 11-34...

11-51! Personally, I’m still on 10 speed with 11-46 cassettes from Sunrace.

Are you talking 11sp on a 10sp hub with those? I don’t see compatibility listed for those onto 10sp hubs. I may be missing something though. I’m also  talking road bike wheels.

Yes...it will fit, no problem. Anything that claims to fit a HG freehub usually does. Personally, I run an XT MTB rear derailleur on my sort of road  bike with some kind of weird Gevenelle shifter and a Wolftooth Goatlink and it's a pretty cool road to go down.
